Joe Biden makes eyebrow-raising move just weeks after leaving office

It hasn’t been a full month since former President Joe Biden left the White House, but he is already making big moves as part of his post-presidential career.

Creative Artists Agency, or CAA, is one of the biggest talent agencies in the entertainment industry and has now added the 46th President to its roster. The CAA represents big names in Hollywood, including Beyoncé and Tom Hanks.

According to the LA Times, the agency signed the former President on Jan. 3. Richard Lovett, CAA co-chairman, said in a statement that they are “honored” to work with the political figure.

“President Biden is one of America’s most respected and influential voices in national and global affairs,” Lovett said. “His lifelong commitment to public service is one of unity, optimism, dignity, and possibility. We are profoundly honored to partner with him again.”

Biden was previously signed with CAA from 2017-2020, after his second term as a vice president during the Obama administration. During this time, he released the memoir “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship and Purpose” and the “American Promise Tour.” The agency says the tour sold more than “85k tickets nationwide.”

The CAA will represent him in all areas, including publishing and speaking engagements. According to the LA Times, this new deal could be quite profitable for the former President.

“Opportunities for Biden could be lucrative,” reads the LATimes post. ”During the last time Biden signed with CAA, his income rose dramatically due to the popularity of his book and speaking events. His income rose from less than $400,000 a year when he was vice president to more than $15 million in the two years after he left his position.”

Following his leave of office, Biden received immense backlash for pardoning his son, Hunter Biden, who was convicted on “federal felony gun and tax convictions,” according to the Associated Press. This lowered his approval ratings as the Associated Press said that only about two in 10 Americans supported his decision.

The former President, 82, was the oldest man to serve as U.S. President, holding office from 2021-2025. According to Pew Research, 55 is the “median age for all U.S. presidents on the day of their first inauguration.”
